Indian small-scale forestry project wins CDM certificate

SciDev.net reports on the first small-scale afforestation project in the world to get a clean development mechanism (CDM) certificate. The project, in North India's Haryana state is part of a larger, ten-year community forestry project to provide tree cover in thousands of hectares of wasteland. It is supported by the European Commission (EC) and the Haryana state government.

Himachal Pradesh increases forest cover through carbon credits

Himachal Pradesh state forest department will soon finalise the mechanism for making payments to farmers under the carbon credit scheme for raising forests on private and community land, as part of the World Bank-funded Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project.
