Indian small-scale forestry project wins CDM certificate

SciDev.net reports on the first small-scale afforestation project in the world to get a clean development mechanism (CDM) certificate. The project, in North India's Haryana state is part of a larger, ten-year community forestry project to provide tree cover in thousands of hectares of wasteland. It is supported by the European Commission (EC) and the Haryana state government.

CASCADe Workshop, 24 - 28 September 2008, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo

The Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Tourism of the Democratic Republic of Congo obtained the support from the CASCADe initiative (Carbon Credit for Agriculture, Silviculture, Conservation and Action against Deforestation) funded by the "Fonds Français pour l’Environnement Mondial" (FFEM) and coordinated by the United Nations Environment Program. This initiative offers a support to project sponsors who wish to mitigate their Green House Gas emissions in the scopes of agriculture, bioenergy and forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Africa Carbon Forum, 3-5 September 2008, Dakar Senegal

The 1st Africa Carbon Forum intends to strengthen links between Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project developers and the region’s investment community, and help countries in sub-Saharan Africa, to improve their level of participation in the CDM. The event will combine a carbon investment Trade Fair, a Conference and policy forum for African DNAs and climate change officials, as well as targeted capacity building on the CDM.
