Just how can we avoid deforestation?

According to scientists from the ASB Partnership, single, stand alone approaches will not find sufficient solutions. Not especially if the focus is on forests alone and agriculture, the main driver of deforestation, is not in the picture.

A multifunctional approach to REDD (reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation) will be far more effective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing food production than the practice of intensifying agriculture and sparing forests. Read more
