President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia has finally signed the presidential decree declaring a two-year moratorium on new logging concessions in Indonesia.

ASB and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) have developed a platform for building capacity for REDD+(reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation  in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks) negotiators and stakeholders in Africa and Asia.

REDD+ projects will have to first implement the Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) process involving local communities and indigenous people living in forest areas before being awarded permits.
