| Abstract | Over the last few years, the stature of REDD+—reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, plus the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries—has grown remarkably. The climate change agreements reached in Cancun, Mexico, in 2010 marked a critical turning point in the development of REDD+. Measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) is included in the Cancun Agreements as one of the most critical elements necessary for the successful implementation of any REDD+ mechanism. |
