AbstractA leguminous forage Centrosema (Centrosema macrocarpum) as a cover WAS Planted in a 4 year crop peach palm plantation (Bactris gasipaes K.) at Different rates of Increasing phosphorous (P) in order to determine the Adequate doses needed to get rapid establishment for cover future use as a silvopastoral system. Four rates of P as phosphate rock Were tested: 0, 20 40 and 80 kg / ha. This fertilizer uniformly WAS Sprayed Before planting the cover crop at the Beginning of the experiment. A randomized complete block design to find the WAS USED The Different response to fertilizer rates. The initial soil P Were Levels of low and as a function INCREASED Significantly Increasing Levels of the of applied P. Similar trends observed in the tissue Were of centrosema and peach palm. There Was a good P Accumulation in the biomass and nutrient cycling centrosema of the soil. The establishment and production of biomass centrosema After 150 days of INCREASED planting in all the Development of Treatments But centrosema With The rates of 20 kg / ha Cover the soil faster biomass production and Present Greater Than The Others. Because There Were significant non Difference between the establishment rates of P, it is recommended to apply only 20 kg / ha DURING centrosema establishment.
